User manual for the Axis Communications T8129 Power over Ethernet Extender 5025-281
The user manual for the Axis Communications T8129 Power over Ethernet Extender 5025-281 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Surveillance - Surveillance Video - Wired Networking - Ethernet Extenders.
Ethernet and PoE (power over Ethernet) connections both restrict cable distances to 328' (100 m) between network ports. To overcome this distance limit, network installers can simply connect an Axis Communications T8129 Power over Ethernet Extender in-line with the Cat-5e or Cat-6 cable.
With this PoE Extender, Axis's network video products can be installed at distances greater than 328' (100 m) from one another. By connecting the extender for every extra 328' (100 m) of cable, both Ethernet and PoE can be extended to 656' (200 m), 984' (300 m), or even greater distances, depending on camera model and power source.
T8129 is compatible with all Axis network video products supporting PoE. Range depends on the power required. So, a 25 W PTZ dome camera may be located 656' (200 m) away using a single extender. The cable length to a regular 5 W network camera may extend up to 1312' (400 m) by fitting three T8129 extenders at 328' (100 m) intervals.
The PoE extender does not require any additional power supply and the connected network camera is fed by a single PoE switch or midspan, which simplifies installation. It offers 2 Ethernet ports, which are both configured automatically for link speed, duplex, and crossover, and the full-rate network throughput is maintained.
