The Canon XA10 Camcorder Master Starter Kit from B&H provides a basic shoot-ready camcorder package suitable for a seasoned pro or a well-prepared novice. The kit consists of the XA10 HD Camcorder, two 64Gb SDXC cards, a USB 3 card reader, a large capacity battery, a compact battery charger, a camcorder bag, a UV Filter and an LCD Hood. The XA10 Camcorder while ultra compact, is fully featured and has a 1/3" 1920 x 1080 pixel CMOS sensor. The camcorder shoots at frame rates of 60i, Native 24P, 24P (records 60i) and 30P (records 60i). The camcorder comes with a professional 10x zoom lens (35mm equivalent 30.4 to 304mm) with variable powered zoom rates. The camcorder utilizes the AVCHD codec for professional quality compression and increased recording times to the internal 64GB flash drive.
The two built in SDXC card slots on the camcorder accept SD/SDHC/SDXC cards. The included SDXC cards provide for almost limitless recording time and the flexibility to bypass the camcorder's internal flash drive for recording. Insert one card into each slot and start recording to the cards. When the first card fills up, you can start recording on the second card. Download the data off the first card while you continue to shoot on the next card. By using the cards this way there is no need to stop shooting while downloading. A USB 3.0 card reader that accepts SDXC/SDHC and Compact Flash cards is included to provide additional downloading options.
The large battery pack allows you to keep shooting while charging the battery that comes with the camcorder. By using the AC/DC charger you aren't forced to stop shooting to use the camcorder to charge the battery. You can even charge a battery from your car's cigarette lighter socket as you travel between locations. The camcorder bag provides a safe way to carry your equipment, and is the right size for this camcorder and accessories. A UV filter is often overlooked when purchasing a camcorder, although it is a valuable addition providing protection to the front element of your lens and reducing UV contamination which can wash out your image. The LCD hood is a great tool for shooting in daylight conditions, providing shade from either glare or direct sunlight which can make a flip out LCD viewfinder virtually useless.
