The red Cool Damper Multi-Use Valve Ring from EAT Products is a cool damper envelope for an electron tube. The valve ring has a hexagonal shape interior and features six "V profile" carbon-teflon composite stripes, which can be readjusted to three different positions in order to fit various size tubes. This damper is vibration-consuming; it reduces distortion from the tube circuit, as well as the tendency of most vacuum tubes to act in a microphonic manner.
The design and materials of the Cool Damper compensate for the naturally resonant tendencies of both glass and aluminium, and work to transform active vibrational energy into thermal energy, which is then dissipated as heat radiation. The Cool Damper reduces the operating temperature of the glass envelope of the tube by about 10%, which contributes to extending the tube's lifetime.
