The FLIP3.1 Macromate Mini Combo Package for GoPro from Flip Filters is a multi-filter and macro lens underwater system that includes the FLIP3.1 frame, TOP FLIP mechanism, 55mm Threaded Adapter, Macromate Mini Underwater Macro Lens, and a set of three optical acrylic underwater color correction filters. Use the SHALLOW filter for depths above 20', the DIVE filter for depths between 20 and 50', and the DEEP filter for deeps below 50'. It is also compatible with other FLIP4/FLIP3.1 filters.
The FLIP3.1 frame is machined from aircraft grade anodized aluminum and clamps onto the GoPro Dive Housing, making it suitable for HERO3, HERO3+, and HERO4 cameras. When installed, the FLIP3.1 system provides unobstructed view of the front LCD and even lets you open the housing without having to be removed. The housing will not cause vignetting to occur in any underwater shooting mode. A side hinge mechanism holds one of the filters and lets you easily flip it front of the GoPro lens when needed, and flip it to the side when you don't. For a dual-filter system, the TOP Flip mechanism adds a second hinge to the top of the FLIP3.1 frame, letting you quickly combine or switch between different filters as your diving depth changes.
For close-up focusing, the Macromate Mini can be attached to either the side hinge or TOP FLIP using the 55mm Threaded Adapter. Without corrective optics, the GoPro can only focus about 1 to 2' underwater. With the Macromate Mini, the GoPro can focus underwater on subjects about 3" away, letting you fill your frame with an object about the size of a golf ball. While the Macromate Mini works in wide, medium, and narrow video modes, the narrow video mode will give you the sharpest edges.
