The Gitzo Series 1 Traveler Carbon Fiber Tripod with Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head is a 4-section compact and lightweight carbon fiber tripod with an Arca-type compatible hybrid ball head. Weighing only 3.1 lb, the Series 1 Traveler can hold up to 12.1 lb. The legs fold up 180° around the center column and head, making the tripod's folded length only 16.1" long. It has a minimum working height of 9.5", and when fully extended it reaches 59.8" high. G-lock leg locks add to the stability and rigidity by actually strengthening the tripod as more weight is added to it.
When you are shooting low angle or macro photography, the center column can be inverted or removed to get your camera closer to where it needs to be. At the bottom of the center column is a ballast hook, so you can hang a bag or weight to lower the tripod's center of gravity, thereby adding stability.
Included with the tripod is the Series 1 Traveler Center Ball Head, which features an updated quick-release system that accepts both Gitzo C-profile plates, and Arca-type compatible plates. This QR system allows the plate to be snapped into the head from above, a faster alternative to sliding in the dovetail plate from the side.
