User manual for the Ikelite 6241.81 ULTRAcompact Underwater Housing 6241.81
The user manual for the Ikelite 6241.81 ULTRAcompact Underwater Housing 6241.81 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Photography - Underwater Photography - Still Cameras & Housings.
The Ikelite 6241.81 ULTRAcompact Underwater Housing for Canon PowerShot A810 Digital Camera is a waterproof enclosure enabling you to capture high-quality images and video beneath the water's surface. The mechanical and button controls allow full access to all camera functions and are depth rated to 200' (61 m). The housing is constructed of durable, clear polycarbonate, a material known for preventing corrosion. Buoyancy is slightly positive in fresh water. An easy-open latch and drop in camera loading make set-up easy. Dual 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing enable the secure, rotation-free attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories (not included).
The flash diffuser (included) enhances lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash fires. A built-in flash functions effectively at a range of 1.0-3.0' (0.3-0.9 m) from your subject in clear conditions. To achieve the best possible results, the use of an external underwater strobe (not included) is recommended. There's also a flash deflector included with the housing to eliminate backscatter when the flash is fired.
Color correction filters replace reds, oranges and more natural tones that are otherwise lost due to absorption underwater. Effective in relatively shallow, sunny conditions, the following optional filters are available (not included): #6441.41 for tropical blue water and #6441.81 for green water. For best results, use them along with a manual white balance.
External accessory lenses, too, are available (not included) to enhance or add versatility to your underwater images and video.
You can attach the optional 67mm threaded #6420 Ikelite W-20 and other external wide-angle lenses directly to the front of the housing's flat port (lenses not included). These lenses increase your angle of coverage, allowing you to get closer to your subject while fitting more in the frame and cutting down on distortion caused by the water. Bayonet-style accessory lenses are not compatible. While slight vignetting (shading in the corners) will occur on the widest setting when using an external accessory lens, you can get rid of this effect by zooming in slightly.
Optional external underwater strobes (not included) can be a great asset to you in your underwater photography endeavors. Ikelite strobes are far more powerful, recycle more quickly, and eliminate more backscatter than your camera's integrated flash. Why settle for flat, blue-green images? With the AutoFlash AF35, you can get easy automatic exposure. Or, if you prefer, you can add a DS Substrobe with EV Manual Controller for greater power and wider angle of coverage.
Specifically for video lighting, Ikelite offers the optional Pro-V8 LED (not included). A powerful video light, it provides extra illumination when shooting with the camera's movie mode, and also helps in focusing. The Pro-V8 may be used with or without a color filter.
The housing fits nicely into the #3910 Compact Travel Bag (not included), a perfect carrying option. Padded sides protect your valuable investment, and ample pockets keep all the essentials within easy reach.
