In the backcountry, the simple and compact Mini Water Filter from Katadyn is highly effective against common water contaminants such as giardia and cryptosporidium. Its ceramic filter safely removes bacteria, protozoa, cysts, algae, spores and sediments greater than 0.2 microns, which far exceeds the 1-micron or smaller standard recommended by the CDC. The filter can be cleaned with the provided pad after use in murky water, and will treat approximately 2000 gallons of water before needing to be replaced. To use, simply drop the input tube in a water source and pump up to 16 oz of water per minute into your water bottle, using the nozzle or the provided filler hose. The Mini filter is a pack-friendly 3.2 x 7 x 2" and weighs just 8 oz.
