Keep your blades in top form with this Deluxe 5-Stone System Precision Knife Sharpening Kit from lansky. This package includes a multi-angle clamp that holds the blade securely, as well as various sharpening hones, guide rods for each hone, and specially formulated honing oil.
The hones, also known as stones, are made from alumina oxide ceramic. The 70-grit extra coarse black one is used for re-profiling the bevel grind of a knife, while the 120-grit coarse red one is designed for edge reconditioning. A medium green hone with 280 grit is ideal for sharpening and relatively infrequent touch-ups. The fine blue one has 600 grit and is used for your most frequent touch-ups to give blades maximum sharpness. The last supplied hone is an ultra-fine yellow one with 1000 grit for polishing edges and keeping them razor-sharp.
Four different sharpening angles are possible to help you achieve desired results. The 17° angle is recommended for razor blades, X-Acto knives, scalpels, and similar tools, and yields an extremely sharp but delicate edge. A 20° angle works well for kitchen cutlery and filet knives. If working with hunting and outdoor knives that need sharp, durable edges, you can use the 25° angle. The final available angle of 30° is best for knives that see lots of heavy-duty use, such as cardboard, wire, and carpet-cutters.
Safety holders with finger grooves are mounted onto each hone. Extra-long screws in the knife clamp allow for the sharpening of thicker blades. Additionally, a custom-molded storage case for all system components is included.
