The Monitor Hood for Digilux 1 Digital Camera from Leica provides remarkable benefits to shooting outdoor photos and videos in bright sunlight, or anywhere that ambient light gets behind the camera and creates glare or shadows on the display monitor.
When using the camera outside in bright sunlight, particularly with the sun behind you, it may be difficult to see the monitor screen. The monitor hood enables the image to be seen much more easily even under the conditions mentioned above. Simply tighten the screw in the bottom section of the flap, using a coin or tool, to attach it to the camera's tripod thread.
To use the monitor hood as an added form of protection for the screen, simply press the two side flaps into the center, and press the cover downwards until you hear and feel it lock into place. The closed monitor hood protects the LCD monitor from external damage to a limited extent. It can, and therefore should, remain attached permanently to get the most benefit from it.
Since it has its own tripod thread, the camera can be placed on a tripod even with the monitor hood attached, so you are never left unable to use it when shooting. It must, however, be temporarily taken off to remove or replace the battery.
