The slim and lightweight 14" ThinkPad T450s Ultrabook from Toshiba is designed for business users who require portability, but is also well suited for general use. The system is powered by a 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7-5600U Dual-Core processor that allows you to run multiple applications simultaneously. If you need more power, the processor can be overclocked to 3.2 GHz and the system's 8GB of 1600 MHz PC3-12800 DDR3L RAM allows the computer to quickly access frequently-used files and programs. The RAM comes in a configuration of one 4GB chip that is soldered to the system's motherboard and a second 4GB chip installed in a 204-pin SO-DIMM socket. The SO-DIMM socket can support memory amounts up to 16GB, for a system total of 20GB of RAM.
The 14" LED-backlit anti-glare IPS display features a Full HD 1920 x 1080 native resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, and a 700:1 contrast ratio. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 delivers a sharp, clear picture and you'll also be able to output video to an external display using the built-in Mini DisplayPort and VGA ports. For connecting to the Internet, a Gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11ac Wi-Fi are included. For connecting external peripherals such as storage or optical drives, this may be accomplished using the three USB 3.0 ports. One of the USB 3.0 ports is also powered for always-on device charging. Additional compatible peripherals may be paired using Bluetooth 4.0 technology.
For long-term storage of your files, the ThinkPad T450s features a 512GB SSD. While this SSD may not have the larger capacity of a traditional hard drive, it features no moving parts and is more resistant to damage from bumps and drops. Having no moving parts also allows the SSD to operate with faster data transfer speeds. Additionally, since SSDs have no moving parts, they receive less wear and tear, since there are no read and write heads for the drive media to come into contact with.
Whether you are listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a game, the dual integrated 2W stereo speakers with Dolby sound use the Realtek ALC3232 HD audio codec and offer high quality sound. There is also an integrated 720p webcam which allows you to engage in face-to-face conversations using Skype or other software, dual digital-array microphones, and a 4-in-1 media card reader that supports Secure Digital and MMC cards.
The Lenovo ThinkPad T450s 20BX001FUS includes two batteries - a 3-cell/23Wh internal battery and a 3-cell/23Wh external lithium-ion battery which will last for up to 10.16 hours before recharging is required. The system runs using an included 45W AC adapter and while the installed operating system is Windows 7 Pro (64-bit), a Windows 8.1 (64-bit) license is included at no additional cost.
