The ExpressBox 2200-S8 Gen 2 PCIe-to-PCIe Expansion Chassis from Magma is a rack-mountable 2RU aluminum case that has eight 2.5" drive bays and three PCI Express 2.0 slots, which connects through PCIe Gen2 to your workstation or desktop computer. These features offer extra graphics power and storage capacity for your computer. By installing an optional controller card to one of the PCIe slots inside the case allows the use of 2.5" SSDs or hard drives. The expansion slots can accept any combination of x1, x4, x8, and x16 PCIe cards. It even provides enough space to hold full length and height graphics cards. To power the devices inside the chassis, a 520 watt fanless power supply is built-in that has Molex and PCIe connectors.
ExpressBox 2200-S8 is compatible with Mac, Windows, Linux, and Solaris systems. Magma includes a host card with iPass cable for installing into the computer you want to use with this chassis. This connection offers data transfer speeds up to 40 Gbps and can be daisy-chained by installing a second optional host card into the chassis. Access within the chassis is done without the need for tools. It also has an integrated adjustable speed 80mm fan that provides quiet cooling for the devices. Included are a power cable and a rack-mount kit for the ExpressBox 2200-S8.
