User manual for the Overland 4TB (4 x 1TB) 12-Bay SnapServer XSR 120 NAS
The user manual for the Overland 4TB (4 x 1TB) 12-Bay SnapServer XSR 120 NAS provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Computers & Solutions - Networking - Network Attached Storage Drives.
Designed for large businesses with high performance needs and high scalability requirements, the 4TB (4 x 1TB) 12-Bay SnapServer XSR 120 NAS from Overland Storage offers enterprise class data management and data protection features in a 2U rackmount form factor and is well suited for file sharing, backup, and remote access. With support for 100-500 concurrent users and data performance speeds up to 350 MB/s, the XSR 120 runs on GuardianOS. This NAS comes pre-configured with 4TB (4 x 1TB) of storage and supports up to 12 x SATA II 3 Gb/s, SAS 6 Gb/s, and SSD drive bays. Specifically, the XSR 120 will support SAS drives with capacities of 300 and 600GB and a rotational speed of 15,000 rpm, SATA II Enterprise drives with capacities of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6TB and a rotational speed of 7,200 rpm, and SSDs with capacities of 120, 240, and 480GB.
The XSR 120 is powered by a 2.4 GHz Quad-Core processor and its 4GB of DDR3 ECC RAM, which can be upgraded to 16GB (4 x 4GB), allows frequently-used files to be quickly accessed. Network connectivity is achieved using the dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, which may be expanded to a maximum of 6 ports. This NAS also has USB ports for connecting external devices, such as an RDX QuickStor.
SnapServer's GuardianOS includes DynamicRAID for seamless storage expansion by adding or replacing hard drives as capacity requirements change. In addition, all SnapServer storage volumes can grow or shrink dynamically within the storage pool without IT intervention, helping to prevent provisioning errors and costly upgrades. Supported RAID modes include RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and JBOD, as well as Dynamic RAID Dual or Single Parity.
With both block and file level access, the XSR 120 has cross-platform compatibility with Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Macintosh systems. GuardianOS also includes additional data protection features such as high performance snapshots, direct backup to RDX, disk, or LTO tape, as well as BitTorrent Sync, which will help sync and replicate to other SnapServers in the event of disaster recovery. BitTorrent Sync will also enable anywhere file access with virtually any mobile device and optional data replication is also available.
The capacity of the XSR 120 can also be expanded. Although this NAS only comes pre-configured with 4TB of storage, drives can be added to the array, provided there are available drive bays, but further expansion is possible using the external, 2U, 12-bay SnapExpansion chassis. Up to seven SnapExpansion chassis units may be simultaneously used.
The 4TB (4 x 1TB) 12-Bay SnapServer XSR 120 NAS has a power rating of 350W that is hot swappable and dual redundant. It operates on 100-240 VAC at 50-60 Hz and 8-5A. Typical power consumption when idle with 12 hard drives installed is 225W, while typical power consumption with 12 hard drives installed can peak at 280W. Included are 2 x US power cords, 2 x EMEA power cords, 2 x UK power cords, a fixed rack rail mounting kit, 2 x 7.00' / 2.13m Cat-5 Ethernet cables, and a 3.28' / 1.00m SFF-8088 to SFF8088 SAS Cable.
