The 480GB 2.5" 7mm CS2111 XLR8 SSD from PNY Technologies is an SSD designed for enthusiasts and gamers who are seeking a competitve edge over their opponents in high performance gaming environments. It is also well suited for hard drive replacement and for use as a boot drive. This SSD uses a SATA III 6 Gb/s interface that is compatible with SATA II 3 Gb/s, an SMI SM2246EN controller, MLC NAND flash memory, and will fit into 2.5" drive bays that are 7mm in height. Using an included 2.5"mm spacer, this drive will also fit into 2.5" drive bays that are 9.5mm in height.
With solid state drive technology, you benefit from load and access times for your files and programs that are faster than a conventional 7200 rpm hard drive. As SSDs have no moving parts, they are also more durable and than traditional hard drives and are better protected against damage from drops and bumps. Having no moving parts also means that SSDs receive less wear and tear, as there are no read or write heads for the drive media to come into contact with.
In terms of speed, this drive offers sequential read speeds of up to 560 MB/s, sequential write speeds of up to 455 MB/s, random read speeds of up to 71,000 IOPS, and random write speeds of up to 75,000 IOPS. In addition to the included 2.5mm spacer, this SSD also comes with a limited 2-year warranty. A limited 4-year warranty is granted upon product registration at PNY.com within 90 days of purchase.
