The ivory RAD27 from Rane is a stereo USB audio sound card, well suited for meeting spaces, educational institutions, city councils, and PTA meetings. The interface provides simultaneous playback and recording for Windows or Mac operating systems at 16-bit, 48 kHz PCM format. The RAD27 registers as a native USB audio device and requires no drivers for operation. The panel displays "signal present" and "overload" indicators for both playback and recording and also indicates that the device has been recognized as a sound card by the connected computer. When used with any HAL device, the connected indicator is readable and programmable from the Halogen software, permitting actions such as automatically lowering a screen and turning on a projector via Ethernet commands or contact closures. The unit mounts in a standard 1-gang electrical box and features a screw-down cable-tie to prevent presenters from unintentionally taking the USB cable after use. The RAD27 ships with a USB cable and Decora wall plate.
