The Swedish Chameleon SC:BELTKIT - XL / XXL / XXXL Timing Belt Kit for SC3:FFOCUS Follow Focus is a set of three powerful timing belts for use with Swedish Chameleon's innovative belt-driven SC3:FFOCUS Video Follow Focus. Each of the three is for use with a different diameter lens, from very large to extremely large. In use, each belt loops around the focus ring of a lens and around a belt wheel on the follow focus. At a turn of the follow focus's focus wheel, the belt pulls focus accurately without any play. These large sizes can also serve another purpose. They can support the use of the FFOCUS Follow Focus even when it is placed further from the camera than usual. The FFOCUS can be mounted on a rod that's elsewhere on a rig, instead of right under the camera, and one of the large belts will connect the follow focus with the lens.
The belts are designed for still lenses, as although they each have a pitch, it isn't the .8 pitch that cinema lenses have, and pulls are achieved by friction alone. The belts work with all still lenses but require an added component for those that have aluminum focus rings, (such as those from Zeiss, which all have aluminum focus rings). The added component is Swedish Chameleon's lens rubber, which is sold separately.
