The Taurus Mini Super-S3 LCM External Enclosure from Akitio accepts two 2.5" SATA hard drives up to 1 TB in capacity which can be used for storing data on your Windows or Mac computer. The two drives can be configured with the hardware RAID controller to RAID 0 for best performance, or RAID 1 for redundancy to preserve your data if one drive fails. All drive information is obtained using S.M.A.R.T. and is displayed on the LCD display located in front of the enclosure. Information provided about the drives includes temperature, serial number, storage capacity, and drive failure.
The Taurus Mini Super-S3 LCM offers USB 3.0, eSATA, and FireWire 800 ports so you can connect to Windows and Mac systems. The enclosure's USB 3.0 port can transmit data at up to 5 Gb/s and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, which offers a transfer speed up to 480 Mb/s. The eSATA port allows you to transfer data at up to 3 Gb/s and FireWire at up to 800 Mb/s. The 2.5" SATA drives can be replaced easily with removable trays and the drives are kept cool via extra large heat sinks. Included with the enclosure are eSATA, USB 3.0, and FireWire cables as well as a power adapter.
