The American Dynamics MegaPower CPU, a key component of the MegaPower 3200 Matrix CCTV Switcher/Controller system, manages setup and maintenance of monitors, cameras, alarm events, and video recording/data communication at both local and remote locations. The CPU (Central Processing Unit) comprises two main components - the MPU (Multiple Purpose Unit) and the Port Module. The MPU controls image capture, input power, and provides Ethernet and video data connectivity, besides ensuring overall system operation control. The Port Module offers alarm relay connectivity, high-speed data lines, and RS-232 communication ports. It can control up to 16 RS-232 ports, supporting up to 64 keyboards through the AD port expander.
The MegaPower CPU switching and controlling functions are entirely keyboard-controlled; each keyboard controls the functions related to the monitor associated with that keyboard only. The daily video surveillance tasks including managing automated camera activities, adjusting monitors, and acknowledging alarms are keyboard-based.
An EASY (Enhanced Administration System) software provides a pc-based interface for the CPU. The CPU permits 96 presets/camera with a compatible dome/PTZ device. In a single tour, the CPU can display up to 64 different camera views. The EASY software allows overriding any running monitor tour with a system tour initiated by an administrator.
In the event of an alarm, the CPU can be programmed to display video of pre-determined sensitive areas on multiple monitors. The displayed video can be a salvo, tour, preset, or pattern. Alarms can be displayed in three modes - single, dual, and block displays. Multiple alarms are systematically managed using two alarm queuing methods - sequence and hold. In the sequence alarm mode, alarms are displayed sequentially, whereas in the hold alarm mode, the first alarm is 'held' on the screen until cleared.
The MegaPower CPU helps identify video inputs from local and remote cameras, on the screen itself. The display shows the camera input number, programmable title, status, date, and time.
The CPU front panel gives information about the system's operating condition and communications, while the rear panel provides data, network, and power connectivity. The CPU can be installed in either a single or dual configuration. For uninterrupted system operation, the dual CPU mode provides redundant CPU backup protection with fault detection and hot switch failover.
