BioLite's KettleCharge USB Charger uses a thermoelectric generator to produce up to 10W of power that feeds a 5VDC, 2A USB port for charging smartphones, cameras, LED lights, GPS units, tablets, or just about any device that can be charged via USB. It works by filling the aluminum pot with water and putting it over the flame from a home gas range or camp stove. As the water is heated, the generator produces power while the water is simultaneously sanitized against pathogens to produce potable water for drinking, cooking, or cleaning. An LED dashboard on the collapsible handle provides feedback on the fire temperature to prevent damage to the unit due to overheating, and the status of its 1250mAh lithium iron phosphate (LiFeP04) battery. With the battery charged, the KettleCharge can be used to charge devices even if it's not actively over a flame.
