User manual for the Dangerous Music Master Summing Monitor Analog Mixer MASTER
The user manual for the Dangerous Music Master Summing Monitor Analog Mixer MASTER provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Pro Audio - Recording - Analog Recording Mixers.
The Dangerous Music Master Summing Monitor Analog Mixer is a 2U rack mountable signal processor designed by mastering engineers to provide insert loops, level offset, stereo image width control, and sum and difference processing so you can finish your mixes. For inputs, the unit features two stereo left and right XLR analog input pairs for connecting to a digital to analog converter and to another source such as a patch bay or tape machine. An IN 1-2 button on the front panel of the device switches between the two sources. Left and right stepped attenuator input gain knobs allow you to set the level and balance for the incoming signal.
For processing, the unit features three stereo left and right pairs of insert sends and returns for connecting to your outboard processors such as a limiter, parametric equalizer, or compressor. Multiple processing units can be connected to the same insert by ganging them in series or by utilizing a patch bay. Pressing the insert buttons 1, 2, or 3 on the front panel of the unit will loop in the outboard processing equipment connected to the respective insert.
By pressing the S&M function button on the front panel of the device, the insert loop can operate in sum and minus mode. Sum and minus mode enables you to change the center pan information of a track without altering the sides. This is useful for changing the emphasis of different parts of the arrangement within the stereo field. A stepped attenuator stereo width control knob allows you to narrow or widen the stereo image.
The back of the unit features two stereo left and right XLR pairs for main outputs 1 and 2, as well as a third pair for the monitor output. When pressed, an In-Out Mon button sends either the incoming pre-processed or outgoing post-processed signal to the monitor pair. An Input Monitor Offset level knob allows you to match the incoming signal level to the outgoing signal level so you can compare the effect of the outboard processing at the same output level. The overall output level of the device is controlled by a stepped attenuator knob. This allows you to precisely adjust the appropriate level for feeding the signal back into your analog to digital converter for recording. The device is hand-built in the USA to mastering standards.
