The For.A HVS-4000 16 Input & 16 Output 1.5G SDI Video Switcher is a multi-format video switcher, the main unit of the HVS-4000 system. The switcher features 16 SDI inputs and 16 SDI outputs supporting up to 1.5 Gbps and 1080/59.94i/50i in HD mode. Processing is at 4:2:2:4, 10-bit. Power supply is redundant.
The switcher must optionally be paired with one of four For.A control panels, each offering a wider M/E configuration: 2 M/E16 (with 16 buttons), 2 M/E24, 2.5 M/E24, and 3 M/E24. The switcher can additionally expand to many more HVS-4000 components to support wider applications. The 16 standard inputs can optionally be increased to 48 (in sets of 16) and the outputs to 24, all also supporting 1.5 Gbps. An up/down/cross converter can be added to scale up to four channels to 1080/59.94i/50i. (The converter scales resolutions but not frame rates.) A DSK dedicated to the AUX bus can be added to enable superimposing on each AUX output. Still stores can be upgraded to 12 from the standard six. Multi-viewer configurations can be upgraded from the standard 4/10/16 multi-viewer. Many more additions can be made. They're all described below.
The included functions consist of Macro, Sequence, and Event Memory. The Macro function enables recording and playing back complex operating procedures at the push of just one button, allowing you to easily register a series of operations and then perform complicated operations. For example, you could send a play command to a VTR, then switch to the VTR channel after waiting a set amount of time before playback begins. The Sequence function allows you to register changes in parameters as a sequence. By using optional GUI software, a timeline can be displayed, allowing easy corrections or changes. Event Memory can register all types of parameter settings. Up to 20 sequences and 200 events can be registered.
