User manual for the Garmin Varia Bike Lights Kit 010-01419-00
The user manual for the Garmin Varia Bike Lights Kit 010-01419-00 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Optics - Outdoor Gear - Bicycle Lights.
The Varia Bike Lights Kit from Garmin includes a headlight, tail light, and a wireless remote control. All of the kit's lights are compact, waterproof, and can be used as stand-alone illumination systems or easily integrated with select Edge cycling computer systems via ANT+ wireless technology.
As a stand-alone device, the Varia Smart Bike Headlight can operate in low and high modes, producing 600 lumens maximum. This headlight also features an internal rechargeable battery and a micro-USB charging port. Six hours of chairing will provide enough power for 2.5 hours of uninterrupted performance.
Beyond this, this device is packed with additional features that integrate well with the Edge 1000 systems. For connection to the compatible Edge computers, the light has integrated ANT+ wireless technology. When you pair this headlight with a compatible Edge device, you can take advantage of velocity-controlled beam projection. As you speed-up, this illumination system will adjust the beam to project farther. When you slow down, the beam projection will change to proximity illumination. The Edge computer will also sense the amount of light that surrounds you and will automatically adjust output brightness. To help you avoid collisions with other cyclists that are traveling in the opposite direction, this Varia device has a beam cut-off feature that will prevent the headlight from blinding them.
The housing is rated IPX7 for waterproofing and allows all-weather operation, which means that it can safely be used in rainy conditions and will withstand a temporary immersion in water. It can be easily and securely mounted to your bike via a universal out-front mount.
To make your outdoor cycling a safer and more relaxed experience, the kit includes a Varia Smart Tail Light. With its seven bright red LEDs embedded into a smooth, stylish black polycarbonate housing, it will make you noticeable to other cyclists and motorists on the road from far away. Together they produce 22 lumens of red light that signals riders behind you that you are ahead. You have options to run the light in a constant-on or a flashing mode.
To match various weather conditions suitable for cycling, the taillight is outfitted with a housing that can withstand those conditions. It is waterproof and rated IPX7, which even makes it resistant to a short complete immersion in water. Its construction is lightweight and compact enough to allow you mounting two of these taillights on your bike. To make this possible, each light is supplied with one seat-post quarter-turn mount and one multi-location quarter-turn mount.
Also included in this kit is a waterproof wireless remote that offers you complete control over the headlight and two tail lights. You can adjust brightness and illumination pattern. The front panel has red and green LED indicators and can operate two tail lights to signal left or right turns. The remote is supplied with a CR2032 battery and two mounts, one for a mountain bike and one for a road bike.
