User manual for the Golden Age Project PREQ-73 1-Channel Preamplifier PREQ73
The user manual for the Golden Age Project PREQ-73 1-Channel Preamplifier PREQ73 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Pro Audio - Recording - Equalizers.
The Golden Age Project PREQ-73 1-Channel Preamplifier is a vintage-style microphone, line, and instrument preamplifier with a 2-band shelving equalizer for sound shaping in studio recording applications. The signal path uses only vintage-style discrete components such as resistors, tantalum capacitors, and transistors without any integrated circuits. The line input, microphone input, and line output are transformer balanced, with 3 different transformers, each optimized for its specific purpose including Carnhill mic and line input transformers. The fully floating output can drive a level of at least 26 dBu into a load as low as 600 Ohms by configuring an output jumper.
The maximum gain on the microphone input is 80 dB, which is sufficient to handle passive ribbon microphones with quiet sound sources. The impedance of the microphone input can be switched from 1200 to 300 Ohms to accommodate the tonality of different microphones. Phantom power and polarity reverse can also be switched on or off. For line inputs the gain range is from -20 to +10 dB.
A 2-band LF (±15 dB) and HF(±20 dB) shelving equalizer offers 2 selectable frequencies for each band. Metering is provided by a 3-step output level meter and combination XLR/TRS I/O connectors allow for a wide variety of connections. An insert jack enables the insertion of effect units into the signal path.
