The Ikelite 6241.34 ULTRAcompact Underwater Housing For Canon PowerShot A3400 IS Digital Camera is a clear polycarbonate enclosure, enabling you to capture high-quality images and video beneath the water's surface. The housing's mechanical controls allow full access to all camera functions and are depth rated to 200' (61 m). Buoyancy is slightly positive in fresh water. An easy-open latch and drop in camera loading make set-up easy. Dual 12-24 threaded mounts on the bottom of the housing enable the secure, rotation-free attachment of optional trays and lighting accessories (not included).
The flash diffuser (included) enhances lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash fires. A built-in flash functions effectively at a range of 1.0-3.0' (0.3-0.9 m) from your subject in clear conditions. To achieve the best possible results, the use of an external underwater strobe (not included) is recommended. There's also a flash deflector included with the housing, to eliminate backscatter when the flash is fired.
Color correction filters replace reds, oranges and more natural tones that are otherwise lost due to absorption underwater. Effective in relatively shallow, sunny conditions, the following optional filters are available (not included): #6441.41 for tropical blue water and #6441.81 for green water. For best results, use them along with a manual white balance.
External accessory lenses, too, are available (not included) to enhance or add versatility to your underwater images and video. You can attach 67mm threaded macro lenses (not included) directly to the front of the port, for extreme close-up shooting. Ikelite's testing of several Canon A3400's suggests that significant vignetting occurs on one side of the frame when using an external wide angle lens, so it's not recommended to attach wide-angle lenses to the housing.
Ikelite's underwater strobes are far more powerful, recycle more quickly, and eliminate more backscatter than the A3400's integrated flash. Why settle for flat, blue-green images, when you can do much better? Employ the AutoFlash AF35 (not included) to achieve easy automatic exposure. Or, if you prefer, you can add a DS Substrobe with EV Manual Controller (not included) for greater power and a wider angle of coverage.
You can also add the Pro-V8 LED Video Lite (not included) for extra illumination when shooting in movie mode, or for focus assistance. The Pro-V8 may be used with or without a color filter.
For carrying your underwater photography system, we recommend the optional #3910 Compact Travel Bag (not included). Its padded sides offer protection for your valuable investment, while its divider and pockets enable easy, convenient organization of your essentials for quick access.
