Once the clamp is screwed in, the connector will safely stay in place. (HDMI cables are known to occasionally pull out of DSLR cameras at strong-enough pulls, accidental pulls).
A 36" right-angle HDMI cable comes included. Right-angle connectors are the only kind possible for the clamp to securely press up against.
