User manual for the Muse Research Receptor VIP2 Virtual Instrument Player (2RU) VIP2

The user manual for the Muse Research Receptor VIP2 Virtual Instrument Player (2RU) VIP2 provides necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Pro Audio - Computer Audio - DSP Accelerators.

The Receptor VIP2 Virtual Instrument Player from Muse Research is a rack-mountable musical instrument & effects processor that serves as a stand-alone solution for running virtual instruments and effects software. The VIP2 employs a custom, purpose-built operating system and host application for running your software while eliminating system conflicts, long boot and load times, slow disk messages, system hiccups, viruses, and the other stability problems.

The unit's GUI can be viewed by connecting a USB keyboard, a USB mouse, and a VGA monitor to the VIP2. The "rack-style" interface lets you create your own custom presets using a simple drag and drop paradigm. You can also edit your instruments and effects directly from the GUI, in addition to being able to edit the instrument's and effect's GUI by simply clicking on it.

The featured SoundFinder user interface is designed to help you organize your effects and instruments by using TAGs to categorize them. The VIP2 comes with hundreds of presets already organized by TAGs, and you can create your own presets and TAGs to best suit your needs. The Live mode pre-loads your presets into the RAM, thus eliminating the need to wait for instruments or effects to load.

The Receptor VIP2 comes pre-installed with an assortment of virtual instruments and effects software covering a wide range of instruments and synthesis styles with over 4GB of built-in quality sounds, various virtual analog and physical modeling synthesizers, and a comprehensive set of effects. It also includes demo modes of dozens of virtual instruments and effects. Each software title comes with a free trial period (up to 30 days), during which the software is fully functional; you can subsequently purchase an iLok dongle license to use the software titles of your choice indefinitely. There is a compartment underneath the unit designed specifically for dongle storage.
