Designed for live switching and streaming on location, the Mobile Wirecast Pro Turnkey with Matrox VS4 Quad HD Capture Card is a bundle from B&H that features pre-installed and tested hardware and software. The turnkey is centered around the NextComputing Radius AX79 portable, briefcase style computer and runs Telestream Wirecast Pro 6 software for Web-streaming and live switching. A Matrox VS4 I/O card is included for capturing up to four SD- or HD-SDI video sources. Additionally, the computer has been upgraded with an extra 8GB of RAM for a total of 16GB. The installed hardware and software is backed by 1-year of B&H tech support.
The NextComputing Radius AX79 takes the expandability and performance of a mini tower and packages it in a briefcase design with carry handle and fold-up keyboard. It incorporates a 17" display with a 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) native resolution. This 16:10 aspect ratio format provides an additional 120 vertical pixels compared to a 1920 x 1080 resolution. This allows you to use a toolbar on either the top or the bottom of the screen while still having full view of the Full HD 1080p video you're working on.
The system is powered by a quad-core Ivy Bridge E 3.7 GHz Intel Core i7-4820K processor. Including the upgrades installed as part of the turnkey bundle, the computer also features 16GB of 1866 MHz DDR3 RAM, a dedicated EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 graphics card with 2GB of DDR3 discrete memory, one 120GB Crucial M500 2.5" solid state drive (7 mm thick), a SuperMulti DVD burner, a 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet RJ-45 LAN jack, and SupremeFX III built-in 8-channel high definition audio codec. Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) is the installed operating system.
The chassis features four PCI-Express expansion slots, one of which is taken up by the graphics card and one which is occupied by the Matrox VS4. The remaining two slots can be used to add extra video capture cards, audio interface cards, RAID controllers for external hard drives, and more.
The software component of this turnkey is Wirecast Pro 6 from Telestream. This software is an all-in-one live streaming and video switching solution that runs on Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating systems. Wirecast Pro 6 supports an unlimited number of input sources including audio, video, graphics, and more. Powerful live production capabilities including 35 layers of compositing, transitions, titles, and chroma key let you add a professional and polished look to your broadcasts. Built-in encoding and integration with popular streaming services and CDNs let you stream your content live to the Web for the world to see.
To bring video in to Wirecast from camera or other sources, the Matrox VS4 Quad HD Capture Card is included. This card features four HD-SDI inputs, which are active at all times and feature standard BNC connectors. The VS4 auto senses the video signal and automatically sets each input to the correct format. Each input is independent of the others, meaning, for example, you can feed SD to the first, 1080p to the second, 720p to the third, and so on. The card is designed to work exclusively with Wirecast software.
