The user manual for the PROMPT-IT Maxi Teleprompter PRO-MAXI provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Professional Video - Studio & EFP Equipment - Teleprompters.
The PROMPT-IT Maxi Teleprompter is a highly compact tablet prompter that will likely remind you of a small laptop. In shape it looks like a laptop, and to get set up and running, all you have to do is lift up the top cover like you would lift up a laptop screen. This top cover is actually the beamsplitter glass, and it's just glass, with no bulky frames or borders, true to the Maxi's minimalist design. After you lift it up, just insert your tablet in its place, and then put your camera right behind the glass. Ideally, you would have the Maxi mounted on a tripod, and a have camera on another tripod placed right behind it. The Maxi and the camera don't need to be connected or attached in any way, just one placed behind the other.
The Maxi's flat design also allows for placement on flat surfaces, so, you can get creative in setting it up on tabletops, shelves, and other useful surfaces you may have around you. Moreover, the 1/4"-20 tripod hole on the bottom of the Maxi also allows attaching rod-clamps, heavy-duty articulating arms, and other accessories in place of a tripod, providing for more room to get creative, including using it attached to the camera and handheld. The Maxi is compatible with full-size iPads (except the iPad Pro), iPad mini, iPhone, iPod Touch, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 2 7", Wiz Tab, and other tablets and phones of similar size. The Maxi fully supports many different prompting applications but Prompt-It recommends Teleprompt+ by Bombing Brain for its ease of use and features.
The glass provides a 33 ft reading range, and can be adjusted up and down for best visibility. It's about the size of an A4 sheet of paper, large enough to work with both small and large cameras (with a slight zoom in some cases). This glass is a piece of work on its own. It features a silver coating, like the type used on studio teleprompters, allowing for crisp, high-contrast text readability. And it's designed for use in portrait orientation, which allows for reduced left/right eye movement (and also attests to the strength of the glass, as more stress is put on the glass in portrait orientation).
With no tools required, setup could take you just seconds, and certainly no more than a minute or two. When you're done, remove your tablet, close the glass, and pack both away into the included soft carry case, which is slim because it doesn't need to be any thicker. Also included is a hood that you can place over the glass and camera to prevent flares.
