The 1TB Amphibious X7 Mobile Encrypted FireWire 800 & USB 2.0 Hard Drive from Rocstor is a two-factor authentication, real-time, hardware encrypted external hard drive with a capacity of 1TB and a rotational speed of 5400 rpm. Designed and engineered to satisfy the requirements of security concerned professionals, the Amphibious X7 is also bootable, is solely bus powered, and is compatible with Windows and Macintosh environments without any required software installations.
In addition to being a hardware-based encryption device that helps secure data against hackers and information thieves, the Amphibious X7 supports the 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) Algorithm in real time with virtually no loss in disk performance. The Amphibious X7 does not require any additional software to be installed and is fully independent of the operating system. Once deployed, all the data on the X7 is protected from unauthorized access in the event that the device is lost or stolen.
While in CBC (Cipher Block Chaining) mode, the encryption meets certifications from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard FIPS Level 2 for a cryptographic module. The Amphibious X7 is authenticated by a secure, ISO7816-compliant smart card and PIN number, which is entered using an embedded keypad. This helps to ensure protection from key-loggers who may be recording keystrokes.
Included with the Amphibious X7 are two smart cards, USB and FireWire 800 cables, and a carrying case.
