The 43" Umbrella Softbox from Savage takes the "shoot through" umbrella idea and runs with it. Like a shoot through set up you point the convex side of the umbrella toward your subject and pump your light through it. The Achilles heel of the shoot through setup however, was always the inordinate amount of spill light escaping from the back of the umbrella. Savage has got that covered with the addition of a shower cap-type light blocker that defeats spill and directs the light forward. Additionally, the Umbrella Softbox sets up and breaks down in seconds.
