With its 8-bay design and a 1U form factor, this rackmount NAS is a suitable network storage solution for growing businesses.
This 8-bay rackmount NAS is builtwith enterprise-class hardware, both inside and out. It features 8 x 3.5" SATA III/II hot-swapable drive bays that are equipped with 16TB of storage using 4 x 4TB Seagate Constellation drives that are designed to run 24/7 and are more reliable than standard hard drives. With read and write speeds up to 200 MB/s, these drives can be configured into various RAID modes, such as 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and hot spare. Seagate's SimplyRAID technology also helps to automatically manage installed drives to provide an optimal blend of capacity and redundancy.
This NAS runs using Seagate's NAS OS 4 which features a user-friendly, business-focused, and web-based interface. The OS is also optimized for NAS servers. Using Seagate's Sdrive or MyNAS apps, users can create a private cloud and connect to their NAS while away from the office. Built-in support for iSCSI enables maximum performance and compatibility for virtualized environments, while centralized backup supports PC and Mac systems, as well as Apple's Time Machine. It also features UPnP DLNA comptibility, a photo browser, audio streaming, and an iTunes (DAAP) server.
This 8-Bay Rackmount NAS is powered by a 2.3 GHz Intel Dual Core 64-bit processor with 4GB of DDR3 ECC RAM. Network connectivity can be achieved using dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with failover support, while connectivity options include three USB 2.0 ports, one VGA port, a male DE-9 serial port, and two PS/2 ports. It operates using dual 250W redundant and hot-swappable power supplies with failover support, each of which runs using 100-240 VAC at 50/60 Hz. Three hot-swappable fans help to ensure that the systems keeps cool.
The Seagate 16TB (4 x 4TB) Business Storage 8-Bay Rackmount NAS is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems and requires a local area network (LAN), a wired router with an available 10/100/1000 Ethernet port, an Internet connection, and a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Chrome for use. Included is an Ethernet cable, two power cords, slide rails for rack mounting, a USB key with NAS OS, system utilities and documentation, a cable management arm (CMA), and a three month trial for Wuala secure cloud backup. This NAS is protected with a limited 3-year warranty.
