This electronic download of Serato DJ provides a range of advancements to the popular DJing software. It includes support for Rane's line of Serato enabled mixers (Sixty-Eight, Sixty Four, Sixty-Two Z, Sixty-Two, and Sixty-One), Rane's line of SL interface boxes, as well as a wide variety of mixers and DJ controllers designed for Serato from manufacturers such as Denon, Novation, Numark, Pioneer, and Reloop.
The software's functionality can be expanded through the purchase of optional expansion packs for FX (Base Pack, Wolf Pack, Chip Pack, Back Pack, Jet Pack) as well as the Pitch 'N Time DJ Expansion Pack which enables time stretching and pitch shifting of tracks without degradation of audio quality using film and music industry standard algorithms. The software comes with a set of iZotope-designed internal effects. Cue points and loop controls have been improved such that you may now see up to eight cue points at once alongside saved loops and autoloops. It is now also possible to name cues with the label of your choice such as "intro," "drop," "verse," etc. A new quantize mode allows you to set and trigger cue points in time with the beat and an adjustable beatgrid. The sample player enables 4 bank of 6 sample slots, an advanced mode for designing samples, and a simplified mode for incorporating the samples into your set.
Serato now includes a sync feature for DVS DJs that will rapidly synchronize tracks without having to move the pitch slider. This feature can be disabled for DJs who prefer to manually beatmatch tracks. The stacked view mode originally available in Scratch Live has been added to Serato DJ to complement the other selectable view modes: vertical, horizontal, extended, and library.
The software can be controlled via iPad using the Serato Remote App or by iPhone/iPod touch using the Serato Remote Mini App, both available from the iTunes App store. You can manage your music library with smart crates using keywords, genres, BPMs and other rules as well as review and edit your set histories, browse by album art, or prepare crates for future shows. Integration with the optional Serato Video software has also been improved with new quartz composer visualizations and the ability to sync both audio and video playback.
