The Niagara 7550 HD Streaming Encoder from Sony is an HD video encoder that also supports NTSC and PAL signals. It is designed for desktop/rack applications and is suitable for use by content delivery networks, broadcasters, and network service providers for delivering live streaming/simulcasting, webcasting, mobile TV and archiving/video on demand.
The front panel features three assignable buttons, and a touch screen LCD confidence monitor. The streaming encoder features a loop through SDI video input, and features balanced and unbalanced audio inputs. It supports encoding to Adobe Flash, Apple HTTP live streaming, Microsoft Windows Media (Silverlight) and Live II. It also supports MPEG-4, MPEG-2 Transport Stream, 3GPP/3GPP2 with MP4 container support. The built-in web browser interface provides easily accessible control of the unit from a network connection that allows you to start streaming, or assign multiple stream profiles that can be started from the unit's front panel.
The Niagara 7550 features multi-core processing power, allowing it to encode several streams simultaneously, with each stream configured differently. It allows you to individually apply logos and graphics to the streams, and it features useful functions such as scaling and closed caption rendering to the input video signal, before it encodes for streaming.
