User manual for the Synology 4-Channel 5MP NVR NVR216 (4CH)

The user manual for the Synology 4-Channel 5MP NVR NVR216 (4CH) provides necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Surveillance - Surveillance Video - Network Video Recorders (NVRs).

View, manage, and store video footage from your IP cameras using the 4-Channel 5MP NVR from Synology. The NVR can handle up to four connected cameras and allows you to simultaneously play back recordings from multiple channels. Use a local monitor or mobile device to access the web-based Surveillance Station interface, the recorder's video management software. The software's timeline formatting allows you to choose a time and date within your footage for playback, and three USB ports provide keyboard and mouse interfaces for easy navigation.

The NVR supports resolutions up to 5MP and a maximum frame rate of 120 fps. It also lets users watch all of the four channels of surveillance feeds at 720p/30FPS without using a computer. Video footage can be compressed in either H.264 or MJPEG formatting for a minimum of bandwidth and storage usage. The NVR comes with two drive bays, each with an 8TB capacity for a total of up to 16TB of storage (HDDs available separately). Expand the storage capacity using the optional Synology DX513 unit for a total of 7 drive bays and a capacity total of up to 56TB.

When accessing the NVR from your mobile device, the DS cam application for iOS and Android allows you to view and play back footage and make adjustments to the camera's view via the PTZ feature. Notification settings provide a choice of email alerts, SMS messages, or push notifications for informing you when motion is detected. Furthermore, the NVR uses a Wake-on-LAN RJ45 connection so that if the recorder has gone to sleep, it will automatically wake up and start recording when motion is detected.

Two mini-jack connectors enable two-way audio when used with cameras that have a speaker and microphone, and a dedicated HDMI output provides 1080p resolution when connecting through a local monitor.
