The Vintage Dry AD2 ADPAK from XLN Audio is a virtual drum kit that was authentically created to bring back the sounds of 1970s rock, disco, funk and any style that relied on a solid backbeat. A 1968 Ludwig Silver Sparkle kit from Studio INGRID was modified, tuned and dampened using authentic 70s methods - the kick was stuffed with a pillow and a large sheet of felt, newspaper was taped to the snare heads, and more felt sheets were pinned to the toms.
For further authenticity, only microphones from the 1960-70s (Coles, Neumann, Sennheiser and Bang & Olufsen) were used, all processed through the studio's vintage API console resulting in drums that are dry, fat and crisp.
The kit is powered by the Addictive Drums 2 sound engine, allowing for instant loading and tweaking of drums, along with realistic performance playback, all with little CPU load. The musician-centric interface and effects provide endless possibilities for composition and sound design. Addictive Drums 2 supports most major e-drum companies like Roland, Yamaha, Alesis, and others and includes many map presets for e-drum models.
