This A-Neuvideo Audio Extractor works as a multi-format audio splitter for HDMI sources such as Blu-ray players and game consoles. It allows you to connect an HDMI source and route its audio signal to separate speaker systems simultaneously via S/PDIF and 3.5mm stereo audio outputs. It offers a choice between optical Toslink and digital coax RCA S/PDIF outputs. At the same time it allows the pass-through of the full HDMI signal — video with audio — via an HDMI output so you can connect to a TV.
A 2-Ch/5.1-Ch selector switch on the front panel allows you to manually choose between 2-channel and 5.1-channel output if your HDMI source offers multi-channel audio. If the HDMI source only supports standard 2-channel L/R stereo audio, a 2-channel output will automatically be selected. An LED next to the selector switch lights up when the output is 2-channel.
A built-in digital-to-analog converter (DAC) allows the HDMI audio and the S/PDIF and stereo outputs to function at the same time. The HDMI video signal is passed through unchanged in up to 1080p60 Full HD resolution.
