The AB168 Portable AudioRack from Allen & Heath is a portable, rugged audio interface box for the GLD and Qu digital mixing systems. It provides 16 XLR inputs and 8 XLR outputs when connected to a GLD-80 or GLD-112 mixer, or to an AR2412 AudioRack. Featuring 16 microphone preamps with phantom power indicators and 8 XLR line outs, the AB168 runs on Allen & Heath's proprietary dSNAKE protocol.
The AB168 unit uses a single Cat5 cable to connect to the GLD mixer or to the AR2412 AudioRack via a secure dSNAKE EtherCon port. A second EtherCon port is provided for daisy-chaining to another AB168 box or connecting to a ME personal mixing system. AB168 auto updates its firmware to synchronize with the GLD system. The rack's rugged construction, including rubber bumpers, renders it roadworthy and allows it to be placed on the stage floor during performances. Leightweight at 10.6 lb and featuring a sturdy carry handle, the AB168 is designed for convenience and portability. The unit can be operated horizontally with the connectors facing upward or sideward, or vertically to save space on stage. It can also be mounted in a 19" equipment rack or case using an optional mounting kit.
