The Bescor LED-40 On-Camera Light with Vello Multi-Function Ball Head Kit from B&H combines a pocket-size 40 watt-equivalent LED light with a ball head that'll let you tilt the light up to 90°.
The light measures 3 x 2.5" and runs on 3 AAA batteries for two hours. It delivers a daylight-balanced color and its 40 watt-equivalent intensity reaches about 20 feet in a wide beam.
The light has a shoe mount for attaching right to the top of a camera, and it comes with a side bracket for being positioned to the side of a camera. However, attaching instead by means of the ball head will allow the 90° tilt mentioned above and will also add about 3" of height off of the camera. The ball head is called "multi function" because in addition to its tilt capabilities it also has 1/4" screws that accessories alternate to the light can be attached to, accessories such as monitors. The screws are under the shoe mounts of the ball head and are accessible upon removing the shoe mounts. Please note that the head's lower shoe is compatible with most standard camera shoe mounts except for Sony's DSLR flash shoe.
