The AC2000A Multimedia (DVI-D/Audio/Serial/EDID) over 2 CATx Dual-Access Extender Kit by Black Box, comprised of a local transmitter unit and a remote receiver unit, allows you to display DVI-D computer video up to 300' from the host computer over 2 CAT6 cables, or up to 200' over 2 CAT5e cables. The extender supports 1920 x 1080 PC resolutions at shorter distances. For HDTV, it extends 1080p video up to 150' over CAT6 and 100' over CAT5e. Lower HD resolutions (480p to 1080i) go up to 300' over CAT6. Stereo audio and bidirectional RS-232 serial data can be transmitted along with the video signals via the CATx cables. A dual-access model, the AC2000A also enables you to connect a local monitor with speakers to the local unit close to the host computer.
This unit can read EDID (Extended Display IDentification) information from a monitor connected to either the local DVI output port or the DVI port on the remote unit, optimizing the display to the fullest capability of the video card. This information can be stored in the AC2000A-S memory in the "emulate learned" setting, which allows the unit to act like an actual monitor connected to the DVI input connector. EDID information can also be set to a default. The extender can be controlled either manually using the buttons on the front panel or remotely via serial commands or GUI software.
