Its colored plastic housing is collapsible for easier packing and hauling, and the folding legs and double-hook loop allows it to be easily hung. The lantern runs on four user-supplied AA batteries, and is compatible with the optional Black Diamond NRG rechargeable battery kit. When using the battery kit, the Apollo, when plugged in via the DC charger port, will recharge the Black Diamond batteries while they are inside the lantern for added convenience.

My Black Diamond Apollo lantern sometimes does not stay on when the power button is pressed. When it does come on, a red LED light comes on. It can be seen directly with the lantern in the collapsed position and is also visible through the plastic in the open position.
When I press the green button on my white apollo I get a flashing led but the light will not stay on when the button is released. I removed the batteries hoping to reset but that didn't help. Thank you!
