The waterproof Icon Polar Headlamp from Black Diamond features one white main QuadPower LED for long-range illumination, two white SinglePower proximity LEDs, and two red SinglePower LEDs. The red LEDs allow for an illumination while conserving your night vision. The red mode can be easily accessed without cycling through the white modes so as not to affect your night-adapted vision. While the QuadPower and SinglePower white LEDs provide high and low constant illumination modes, the lamp is also capable of producing the dimming and strobe lighting modes. To prevent power loss through accidental battery drain, the device is also equipped with a power lock mode. Additionally, to help you monitor the power consumption, there is a three-level battery indicator that shows you the remaining battery strength for three seconds after switching on headlamp
The housing is rated IPX7 and provides waterproof performance that allows for a half an hour submersion to a depth of 3.3'. Its nylon headband is fully adjustable to accommodate most wearers. The detached battery compartment can be slung across the chest and reduces headband weight, conserves power in the cold, and houses four included AA batteries.
