The Cerwin-Vega CVA-121 - 21" Active Powered Subwoofer is designed for low frequency live sound reinforcement applications. The subwoofer uses a custom 21" woofer using Cerwin Vega's Stroker three spider technology for improved cone excursion and voice-coil efficiency. The technology provides a pair of double inverted spiders to control linearity and maintain a smooth excursion, with a third spider to provide a third plane of support. The third spider also helps keep the surround from pulling the cone.
The subwoofer features a built-in amplifier with 1,200W RMS continuous output and 2,400W peak output. The amplifier includes an on-board parametric equalizer that allows you to dial in the appropriate sub response for each venue. You can bump frequencies that need more emphasis or cut frequencies that occur from room corner loading or wall boundary conditions. The unit also includes a 4-position high pass filter and a sweepable low pass filter for selecting the appropriate crossover points. A cast aluminum grille protects the woofer and functions as a heat-sink to minimize power compression and optimize driver performance.
The subwoofer is constructed of solid 18mm hardwood in the footprint of an 18" subwoofer box. It features XLR and 1/4" TRS connectors, master/slave output connectors for daisy-chaining multiple CVA subwoofers using a single signal. A top-mounted 35mm pole socket accommodates a satellite speaker for full range performance and removable casters make it easier to transport the subwoofer from gig to gig.
