User manual for the EnGenius EPD-4824 Gigabit 802.3at/af PoE Converter EPD-4824
The user manual for the EnGenius EPD-4824 Gigabit 802.3at/af PoE Converter EPD-4824 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Surveillance - Surveillance Video - Wired Networking - Power over Ethernet (PoE).
The EPD-4824 Gigabit 802.3at/af PoE Converter from EnGenius helps users connect to Power over Ethernet (PoE) capable access points and other PoE client devices through an Ethernet cable from a PoE Gigabit Ethernet switch. This is accomplished by converting the 48V 802.3af/at power source into a 24V power output. It has an MTTF rating of 25,000 hours.
Designed to work with the EnGenius ENS202, ENS202EXT, ENS500EXT, ENH500EXT, ENH202, and ENH500 Wireless Outdoor Access Points, and equipped with a power output of up to 24W, the EPD-4824 provides users with the option to place PoE-client devices and access points outdoors and in other environments where power outlets may not be readily available. The EPD-4824 lets you connect PoE-client devices and access points to an existing network without having to run extended lengths of power cabling. The EPD-4824 features two Gigabit Ethernet (10/100/1000 Mbps) ports. One is used for connecting a PoE Ethernet switch, while the other is used for connecting to a PoE-enabled device, with the EPD-4824 converting its 48V/802.3af/at power source into a 24V power output.
The EPD-4824 uses an IEEE pin definition to power the device and comes with a 48V power supply. Pins 1, 2 and 3, 6 are used for data transmission, while pins 4, 5 and 7, 8 are used for sending power to the device via center tap. The EPD-4824G generates power over CAT6, Cat5, and Cat5e cabling of up to 300' and by sending out 48V, Ethernet terminals such as Wireless LAN access points can be powered remotely from an Ethernet switch. These protective measures help make the EPD-4824 a well suited outdoor wireless solution for compatible ENS and ENH Series Access Points in virtually any locale or venue including ski and beach resorts, sports arenas, college and corporate campuses, indoor industrial environments, and businesses located in snowy, rainy, and arid climates.
