User manual for the Garmin Varia Smart Rearview Radar/Tail Light and 010-01509-10
The user manual for the Garmin Varia Smart Rearview Radar/Tail Light and 010-01509-10 provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Optics - Outdoor Gear - Bicycle Lights.
Your outdoor cycling can be a safer and worry-free experience with Varia Smart Rearview Radar/Tail Light and Display Kit from Garmin. This kit includes a rear-view radar/tail light and a front-mounting display unit.
The radar/tail light features multiple functions as a stand-alone or when connected to Edge systems. To make you noticeable from far away by other cyclists and motorists on the road, this tail light has bright red LEDs embedded into a smooth, black polycarbonate housing. Together they produce 16 lumens of red light that signals riders behind you that you are ahead. You have options to run the light in a constant-on or a flashing mode.
If you want to tap into more features, connect it wirelessly to the included display unit or a compatible Edge computer via built-in ANT+ wireless connectivity. With this option, you can make full use of the radar capability. This radar detects cars or trucks as far as 153 yards behind you. It alerts you about vehicles approaching from behind and signals them with bright red flashes that you are on the road ahead of them. This can be especially useful and life-saving when other drivers are experiencing fatigue, or when it is dark or foggy outside. In addition, mounting two Varia tail lights allows you to signal left or right turns.
The head display unit can be mounted on the stem of your bike using the included adaptor. When connected wirelessly to the radar/tail light, it is able to display multiple vehicles approaching from behind, show their relative velocities, and threat levels.
To match various weather conditions suitable for cycling, the tail light and the display are outfitted with housings that can withstand those conditions. They are waterproof and rated IPX7, which even makes them resistant to a short, complete immersion in water. The tail light is compact enough to allow you to mount two of them on your bike. To make this possible, the kit is supplied with one seat-post quarter-turn mount, one multi-location quarter-turn mount, and one stem mount for the display unit. Also included is a micro-USB charging cable.
