The Hartke VXL Bass Attack - Preamplifier and Direct Box Pedal is designed for recording and live performance applications such as playing the bass guitar in a band. The combination DI box pedal features an aluminum chassis, a 1/4" instrument input, a gold-plated balanced XLR direct output with a selectable pre/post switch for sending a processed or unprocessed signal to the mixing board, as well as a parallel 1/4" output for connecting to a bass amp. The pedal implements Hartke's famous shape EQ curve circuit with a control knob for setting the center frequency of the curve. The pedal also includes three EQ control knobs (Bass, Treble, Brite), as well as control over the harmonics of a built-in tube emulation.
A mix knob allows you to blend the processed sound of the pedal with the natural sound of your bass rig. An on/off footswitch can be used to engage the harmonics and mix functions of the pedal, and a second footswitch allows you to engage and disengage the shape EQ curve circuit. Combined, these controls allow you to adjust the tone of your bass to play a variety of music genres such as metal, funk, rock, reggae, and more.
The pedal can be powered through phantom power via the XLR connector, via an internal 9V battery (sold separately), or via an optional 9V AC adapter (sold separately).
