The Ikelite 6182.71 Underwater Housing for Nikon P7100 is a clear polycarbonate case, known for its durability and corrosion-free properties. The housing enables you to shoot underwater with your Nikon Coolpix P7100 digital camera. All camera controls except for the Fn (FUNC) Button, Lens Ring Release Button and Diopter Adjustment Control are fully functional through the housing's mechanical controls, which are depth rated to 200' (60 m). The housing features slightly negative buoyancy in fresh water.
The included tray with release handle provides balance and superb handling while also giving you a convenient attachment point for optional Substrobe mounting arms. Strobe arms can be easily released at the touch of a button, whether you are above or below the surface of the water. The optional Dual Handle and Tray assembly offers even better stability and enables you to add a second Substrobe or video light.
Proprietary conversion circuitry enables two-way communication between the camera and Ikelite DS Substrobes offering true Nikon TTL exposure (strobes not included). These strobes not only provide highly accurate automatic exposure and warm, even coverage, but also ensure quicker recycling time and extended camera battery life, compared to fiber optic TTL systems, by eliminating the need for the camera's built-in flash to fire. Make full use of this powerful feature and snap more pictures more quickly by mounting any current model Ikelite DS Substrobe onto the housing. Using a special sync cord (not included), you may connect non-Ikelite strobes from Nikonos, Inon, and Sea & Sea to this housing. Non-Ikelite strobes may only be used in manual modes. Use of a non-Ikelite strobe bypasses the housing's built-in TTL circuitry. Several options are also available for adding a video light to the housing. The DS161 Movie Substrobe, Pro-V8 LED light and PRO-2800 LED light can all be attached (not included).
The included flash diffuser enhances lighting quality when the camera's built-in flash is in-use. The built-in flash is effective from 1.0 - 3.0' (0.3 - 0.9 m) away from the subject in clear conditions. An external underwater strobe is recommended to achieve the best results. The included flash deflector stops the camera's flash from generating backscatter in the image, thus improving image quality.
Effective in relatively shallow, sunny conditions, the external color correction filters #6441.46 for tropical blue water and #6441.86 for green water are available (not included). Color correction filters help to restore some of the tones that get lost underwater, bringing color richness and vibrancy back into your photography. For optimum results, it is recommended that you use these filters with a manual white balance.
The optional WD-4 Wide Angle Conversion Dome corrects for refractive magnification to enable the camera's complete angle of coverage underwater. The conversion dome can be removed and replaced underwater and requires no modification to the housing's standard port. Wide angle conversion lenses allow you to get closer to your subject while still fitting everything in-frame. The optional adapter #9306.82 fits over the front of the port and enables the attachment of 67 mm threaded macro lenses from Inon and Epoque. Like the WD-4 dome, this adapter is removable and replaceable underwater and requires no modification to the housing's standard port.
A 1cc tube of silicone lubricant, a flash diffuser, a flash deflector and a vinyl port cover are included with the housing.
