The silver, Thunderbolt Lynx Studio Technology Hilo is a two-channel reference analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converter system. Comprising three different components, the A/D, D/A, and separate headphone amplifier, Hilo delivers superb audio performance along with comprehensive connectivity and full functionality.
The designs of the analog stages and converters allow for lower distortion and noise while maintaining transparency in the conversion process. The unit utilizes FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) technology and digital I/O supports AES/EBU, S/PDIF (via coax or optical) or ADAT protocols. The included Lynx LT-USB expansion allows additional USB I/O connectivity.
Hilo provides touch screen operation and monitoring with easy to use menus for setting up all controls and signal routing. The setup page shows two stereo input meters and three stereo output meters. Optional screens show two selectable meter sets and even "old-style" analog VU meters. An internal 32-channel mixer allows any input to be routed to any output. You can connect up to six Lynx converters on a single Thunderbolt port on Mac or PC.
