The Peavey ECS 3X Electro-Acoustic Crossover Network (500 and 2500 Hz) is a 3-way crossover intended for use with a low frequency direct radiator 15" professional sound reinforcement woofer speaker. A 12" professional sound reinforcement woofer that has adequate low frequency response can also be used. For mid-range frequency, a direct radiator dynamic mid-range speaker, from 10 to 6" in diameter and of 8 Ω nominal impedance can be used. It can have an open or closed back type, but a speaker with an open back type should have a sub-enclosure for the rear to prevent the woofer from modulating the mids via cabinet pressure. For high frequency, a 1.4 to 4" diaphragm diameter compression driver tweeter of 8 Ω nominal impedance mounted on a Constant Directivity horn can be used.
This crossover features a full range 1/4" phone jack connection input. The woofer output is a yellow-blue set of wires, with stripped tinned leads. The mid-range output is a white-black set of wires, with S205 push-on connectors that mate with a wide variety of midrange speakers. The tweeter output is a red-black set of wires, with S205 push-on connectors that mate with a wide variety of compression driver tweeters. This equalized crossover system also provides an unfiltered direct input via a 4-pin Neutrik Speakon connector.
