The HP Z440 Entry Level Turnkey with Sony Vegas and Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K - put together by B&H - is designed to give users a solid foundation for embarking on professional-grade video editing and post production work. It features a workstation class HP Z440 computer with upgraded hardware, Sony Vegas Pro 13 editing software, an HDMI/analog video capture and monitoring device, and a memory card reader. All of the hardware and software is pre-installed and tested by B&H technicians. Additionally, the hardware installation is backed by 1-year of B&H tech support.
At the heart of this system is the HP Z440 F1M40UT Minitower Workstation. This server-grade computer features a 2.8 GHz Intel Xeon E5-1603 v3 quad-core CPU backed up by 16GB of RAM and an upgraded memory cooling system. To provide the GPU acceleration Vegas Pro requires - as well as support the more mundane task of driving your monitors (available separately) - the workstation features the NVIDIA Quadro K620 GPU with 384 CUDA Cores and 2GB of RAM. A 2TB media storage HDD is provided, and in addition there is a 250GB SSD drive to hold Windows and all of the applications. The advantage of using an SSD for this is faster boot times as well as faster applications launching.
Sony Vegas Pro 13 continues the tradition of supporting most popular codecs natively in the timeline, with the ability to mix and match formats at will, but adds many notable new features. Among them, Vegas Pro Connect, an iPad app that allows producers and other members of the team to review footage on the go, and take notes that are recorded in metadata. It also introduces support for "proxy-first" editing, in which-when using a compatible XDCAM camcorder-a proxy version can be FTPed to editorial so the cut can start right away. Once the high-quality original footage arrives, it can automatically replace the proxy. Project archiving has also been added. This feature allows you to save metadata for an entire project, or just metadata recorded from the timeline, so that it can be recalled down the road if ever needed.
For monitoring and video capture, the Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro 4K card is included. It features HDMI and analog input and output. With it, you can digitize analog sources such as VHS tapes, capture from a live switcher or directly from an HDMI camcorder, or use it to connect a dedicated HDMI video monitor. In addition to HD, the HDMI input and output both support Ultra HD 4K resolution.
So that you can ingest media for file-based workflows, a 15-in-1 internal card reader is included. The reader supports CompactFlash, SDHC, MemoryStick, and more. The reader interfaces with the computer via USB 3.0.
