User manual for the PIPER Z-Wave Door Sensor and Smart Switch Kit RP1.0-NA-ZP1-W
The user manual for the PIPER Z-Wave Door Sensor and Smart Switch Kit RP1.0-NA-ZP1-W provides
necessary instructions for the proper use of the product Surveillance - Home Automation - Starter Kits.
Piper's Z-Wave Door Sensor and Smart Switch Kit comes in white and enables remote monitoring control capabilities to enhance your home or business' Piper HD Camera and Home Automation Hub. The kit consists of the Z-Wave Door Sensor and the Z-Wave Smart Switch.
Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor
Piper's Z-Wave Door/Window Sensor is a two-unit wireless sensor that consists of a main sensor unit and a magnet unit. This Z-Wave-enabled sensor sends open/close notification alerts to your Android and iOS smart devices when its integrated into the Piper Home Automation hub. In order for this device to be fully functional, it must be connected to the Piper hub's Wi-Fi network. The sensor's wireless communication range is approximately 65'. The sensor is powered by two AAA batteries which last on average about two years due to the device's low power draw.
In order to gain remote access to the sensor's status, you must download the free Piper mobile app. Once a direct connection is established from the downloaded app on your Android or iOS smart device, the Z-wave sensor will begin communicating its status. You can choose to receive a text, email or push notification when the sensor's associated door or window is open or closed. However, keep in mind that you will not be able to remotely open or close the door or window as this sensor is only capable of alerting you to its state. Two AAA batteries, mounting screws, and double-sided tape are included to facilitate setup and installation.
Z-Wave Smart Switch
The kit also includes the Z-Wave Smart Switch from Piper, a wireless intermediary between smart devices, such as an Android or iOS smartphone or tablet and electrical appliances when connected to the centralized Piper hub. The Smart Switch operates on the Z-wave, a frequency band that is subject to less digital interference than other wireless transmission bands, such as the 2.4 GHz frequency. As a Z-Wave-enabled device, this switch can provide a reliable wireless communication range between 50 to 60'.
In order for this Smart switch to function, it must be connected to the Piper hub's Wi-Fi network. Once the Switch's Z-Wave is connected to the Piper hub, you must download the Piper mobile app to remotely turn on an electrical appliance that is plugged into your Z-Wave switch. From your Android or iOS smartphone or tablet, you'll be able to turn off your living room lights from the office, get the coffee machine brewing from the comfort of your bed, heat up your curling iron after you've stepped out of the shower, and so much more. Furthermore, Piper gives you the flexibility to expand your home automation hub at any time.
