The OctaMicXTC from RME is a professional 8-channel digital microphone preamp and USB 2.0 interface that features recording up to 192 kHz, offers AES/EBU and ADAT digital I/O, and supports the powerful MADI multi-channel audio protocol.
The OctaMic XTC is equipped with one MADI optical port that provides up to 64 channels of MADI I/O at 48 kHz. It also boasts eight balanced XLR/TRS mic/line inputs. Four of these inputs feature a pad for recording loud sound sources, and the other four can be switched to accept direct Hi-Z input from electric guitars and basses. Each of the eight inputs are fitted with a high-quality digitally controlled preamp.
Furthermore, the unit features a D-sub 25 connector that provides four AES/EBU inputs and four AES/EBU outputs. It also has one optical ADAT input and two ADAT outputs, each of which are capable of carrying eight channels of digital audio a piece.
The OctaMic XTC also provides ample MIDI connectivity, equipped with two 5-pin DIN standard MIDI I/O connectors, plus it allows for two sets of MIDI I/O to be transmitted over USB and an additional set over the optical MADI port.
